Nuclear Human

Unlike most of what I have posted here so far, this is finished. It’s called “Nuclear Human”. I painted it while listening to CNN coverage of the nuclear meltdown in Japan after their tsunami, which is why the glow around the edges is there. It only took about two hours to paint and is about 11″ x 13″. It is now part of a local mail-in art project, so it’s NFS.

(I wish everything I started took two hours to do.) It’s acrylic on watercolor paper.

Prints of this one will be available at Artspan.com.

Small and Experimental

These two paintings are approximately half finished.  They are already so glazed that they feel like smooth plastic.  My intention is to put many layers on both of them (especially the portrait) so that they get a 3D effect. I’m also using some metallic paint for a glowy effect.

By the way,  I don’t include everything I am working on here. I am doing a lot of things at once (so I’m guaranteed to never get bored) and I put my artwork on several different websites, some specifically for sale, including photographs. I’m working on an anti-war painting right now too, and it contains a head image that is the stuff of nightmares, so I don’t believe I’ll be including it here.  When it’s finished, I’ll probably post a link to it.  (It’ll probably end up on Deviant Art.)  I’m also going to start more larger and organic paintings as soon as I finish some of these smaller things.

Wacom Drawing – Portrait of a Woman I

I recently got a new Wacom Intuos4 drawing tablet.   I’ve wanted a Wacom for years, and having never used it or any other tablet before, I was very happy  to be able to come up with this drawing on my first effort.   It looks like marker, or pen and ink.    It’s far from great, but it shows the potential of the drawing tablet, and it was copied from something.  (The original stuff comes later.)   So far, I love the Wacom but the pen takes some getting used to.   There are other buttons on it and a mouse that seems totally redundant. It has a bit of a learning curve for someone who is used to pens and brushes.  Click on the little square image here for a larger one. Read on for news of an art show . . . .
