Being Bad

Here is a dog (mine) “being bad”. One of her ideas of fun is taking plastic bags, which I keep a collection of out of necessity, and chewing them to shreds. Her goal is to bribe me into giving her a treat to get the bag away from her. It doesn’t always work, but it works often enough so that she keeps doing it. This is a graphic drawing from a photo.

This is a traditional drawing of that same dog being her more rare angelic self.

Iraq Girl Ballerina

This drawing is in progress and in fact it’s for a painting I have not yet started.

It’s from a photo of an Iraqi girl, probably about 11 or so, practicing ballet with other students. It’s not a great photo of it either. I got a new camera and I’m learning how to use it. It’s not like my other Nikon at all. It’s a Nikon S8100 and I’m struggling to get the lighting correct indoors without the center of every picture being brighter than the edges . . . it’s not easy.

Wacom Drawing – Portrait of a Woman I

I recently got a new Wacom Intuos4 drawing tablet.   I’ve wanted a Wacom for years, and having never used it or any other tablet before, I was very happy  to be able to come up with this drawing on my first effort.   It looks like marker, or pen and ink.    It’s far from great, but it shows the potential of the drawing tablet, and it was copied from something.  (The original stuff comes later.)   So far, I love the Wacom but the pen takes some getting used to.   There are other buttons on it and a mouse that seems totally redundant. It has a bit of a learning curve for someone who is used to pens and brushes.  Click on the little square image here for a larger one. Read on for news of an art show . . . .
